> For future reference, whenever a techbro talks about “disrupting an industry,” they mean: “replicating an already existing industry, but subsidizing it heavily with venture capital, and externalizing its costs at the expense of the public or potential workers by circumventing consumer-, worker- or public-protection laws in order to hopefully undercut the competition long enough to bring about regulatory capture.”
Science papers are always full of figures, but very rarely are they to scale, but in this astrophysics paper, which I’ve never heard of an astrophysics paper having a figure to scale, the authors included a 1:1 scale of a 5 Earth-mass back hole. So take 5 Earths worth of mass, compress it so it curbed spacetime infinitely, and this is how big that would be.
My hand for scale, don’t let your actual hand get that close to a real black hole though.
What many younger gamers don't realize is that the Sonic games as originally release were very slow, casually-paced games, one of the original "walking simulators".
It's only because of the naive dependency of those early game developers on CPU-cycle based timing loops -- under the assumption that CPU speed could be treated as a fixed constant -- that the games now run far too quickly under modern emulation conditions.
"Gotta Go Fast" was originally a kind of zen koan, not Sonic's aspiration.
Well y'all it's that time again, if you're looking for a writer/graphic designer to do work or know someone who is, feel free to give me a ring. I can do all sorts of stuff if I get paid enough to do it.

Ngl it would own to be able to support myself purely on my writing so
Think of it this way, the sooner I'm back on my feet the sooner I get to show off Mint art
Microsoft is trying to bring Edge browser to Linux and they've asked for user data on use-cases. there's a section at the end for extra requests / needs which is perfect for including: "NO TELEMETRY OR PRIVACY INVASION"
if we get hundreds putting this in their user survey they only expected a few devs to reply to maybe we can at least piss them off. so please, fill this out, even if with bullshit information, only to request no privacy invasions :)
Amazon announced a smart oven today, which makes me feel like now is a good time to remind everyone that best buy discontinued its smart fridges, meaning you can't set up timers on it after November 6th.
